ELA THIER Writer • Director • Producer
Ela Thier's romantic-comedy, The Wedding Cow, was produced by SWR, a major German television network, and garnered twenty awards at international
film festivals including nine Best Feature and five Audience
Choice awards. In 2006, Thier was commissioned by Danziger & Dellano to write Vanish
Point, a true-life story of a battle fought and won over corporate corruption in the health-care industry. That year,
she founded Thier Productions with partner Evan Gluck and a group of creative associates, to develop and co-produce her full slate of projects. A prolific writer, Thier's scripts were selected by the Independent Film Project
(IFP) the past three consecutive years, with two scripts selected in 2007, and she was offered several options.
Thier was born and raised in Israel and at a young age wrote, directed and performed
in musical theater productions. She studied Film and TV at New York University where she wrote, directed and performed in
award-winning shorts including Be With Me, Plato's
Symposium, and Clamor: A Silent Film About Making Noise. In her twenties, Thier
was a full-time scholar of Talmud and Jewish law, and organized events to foster dialogue between Jewish and Muslim communities.
Returning to filmmaking, she began teaching screenwriting in January 2006 with eight writers attending, and in the span of
two years had hundreds of writers attend her workshops.
JODI MIDIRI Co-Producer
Jodi Midiri began working as a production
assistant on Law & Order and
quickly became assistant director and production coordinator. At a young age, she moved up to produce television programs
premiering on TLC, WE, MTV, VH1, Discovery, The Fine Living Channel, and the Food Network. She wrote, directed and produced
Color Splash, Miami Ink, and John Edward: Cross Country, which became the
highest rated show on Women's Entertainment. Midiri has also produced independent shorts and features including: The J.A.R., Garlic to Propane, and Medical Malpractice. She is currently writing
and producing for HGTV while developing her own original material for film and television.
Midiri joined the company as Thier's assistant during the production of the sample scenes from A Story for Old Lovers, and was quickly promoted as producer. Her passion for the project, combined with her
talent, work ethics, enthusiasm and experience, quickly turned her into Thier's right arm during all phases of the production.
While working together, the two became a creative team, enjoying a rare working chemistry that is likely to bare fruits for
years to come as they work on this and future projects. DONNA DESETA Casting DirectorDonna DeSeta's
ability to discover talent became apperant when she joined Stewart Models, one of the big three casting agencies of the period,
and soon become Executive Vice President of the four corporations under the Stewart umbrella. Since opening her own business,
Donna DeSeta Casting, she has worked on hundreds of film, theater, video and commercial productions worldwide, and with most major motion picture
studios. DeSeta has worked with Wes Anderson, Ridley Scott, John Madden, the Coen Brothers, Harold Prince, Sir Andrew Lloyd
Weber and other notable directors, and has been involved with theatrically released films starring among others Will Smith,
Keanu Reeves, Eminem, Gene Hackman, Anthony Quinn, Christopher Walken, Gerard Depardieu and Jackie Chan.
STEPHEN M. GOLDSTEIN Legal Counsel Stephen M. Goldstein has been working as a legal representative in the
film and television industry for over fifteen years, specializing in financing and distribution. A few highlights include
representing: (i) a major investor in and distributor of Savoy Pictures Serial Mom
starring Kathleen Turner and Exit to Eden starring Dan Aykroyd; (ii) the producer
of The Mighty Kong an animated feature with Dudley Moore, distributed by Warner Brothers;
and (iii) Zeitgeist Films, the distributor of the Academy-Award winning film Nowhere in Africa.
Mr. Goldstein has been representing independent filmmakers such as Nicole Franklin, Barbara Rick and Steve Manin, aiding in
the financing of numerous projects that have aired on major networks and in theatrical release.
